As new technologies emerge, software developers all over the world race to be the first ones to create the first games compatible with the new gadget.
In the case of the Apple Watch, Californian based company PlayScreen have made great developments towards producing a blackjack game that can be played via the innovative iOS wristwatch.
The app, aptly named Blackjack Anywhere, aims to take advantage of the ground-breaking device that works like a combination of an iPhone and digital watch, with blackjack games able to be controlled using the tiny touch screen or the knobs on the side of the watch. Blackjack Anywhere is set to cost punters $1.99 from the iOS App Store.
The downside is that games can only be played for free, and there is no such technology to allow for real money blackjack wagers. While this doesn’t come close to the online blackjack games that we know and love, it’s definitely an exciting indication of the potential things to come for mobile blackjack.
Blackjack guru just sold his start up for $50 million
If you ever saw the movie ‘21’ starring Kevin Spacey and Kate Bosworth, chances are you’re familiar with legendary blackjack player, Jeff Ma. Ma was the real inspiration behind the Ben Campbell character in this popular 2008 Sony Pictures film based on the book ‘Bringing down the House.’
During his time as a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Ma was part of a group of highly intelligent students who used their strong mathematical skills to kick some serious ass at blackjack, winning millions at multiple Las Vegas casinos. Ma had initially used his blackjack skills to help with his struggling college tuition, but blackjack wasn’t to be the only thing destined to make him a millionaire.
Ma eventually moved away from the casino scene and onto more legitimate forms of entrepreneurialism. He used his predictive analytic skills to co-found the now defunct Protrade, a sports stock trading website before selling his sports statistic app, Citizen Sports, to Yahoo in 2010.
Ma is now making headlines again upon Tech Crunch reports that he has just sold his start-up company to Twitter for the hefty sum of $US50 million. The start-up named TenXer is a form of innovative management software that aims to help developers work more effectively and efficiently.
While it seems that Jeff Ma was always destined for a life of greatness, we’re mostly envious of anyone who was able to master blackjack strategy so impeccably.
